What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis (also known as trance) is a natural state that occurs every day.

Have you ever become so engrossed in a movie that you jumped when the bad guy appeared or cried when something sad happened in the movie? Or have you ever found yourself daydreaming when you were bored? These are examples of hypnosis. Hypnosis is focused attention.

When you're in this focused state, you tune out what's going on around you. This allows your own amazing subconscious mind to make necessary changes.

I use principles of neuroscience and an understanding of how unwanted behaviors are formed to help you experience rapid change.

What if I can't be Hypnotized?

You go in and out of trance every day. In fact, your problem is proof that you are hypnotized already. 

Some suggestion has crept into your subconscious without you realizing it and is influencing your beliefs and actions. 

Fears, bad habits, and addictions form when we respond to something in our environment on a subconscious level. That response is repeated and memorized over time. This is why hypnosis is so much more effective than talking about your problem. Talk therapy deals with the conscious mind, which isn't where the problem formed or is stored. 

I'll teach you to de-hypnotize yourself and tap into your subconscious resources so you can release the problem. 

What does it feel like to by hypnotized?

This is different for everyone. Often, hypnosis just feels like deep relaxation. Some people feel nothing at all and don't think anything has happened until they look back a few days, weeks, or months later and realize the problem has disappeared.

You can expect to hear and remember just as much during hypnosis as you would during any normal conversation. 

You won't be "checked out" and no, I can't control your mind. I'll teach you to control your own mind. 

​Sometimes, at the end of a session, people think, "That was a waste of time. I don't really even have a problem." This occasionally happens because the problem has been removed so effectively, they don't remember what it was like to have it in the first place.

Can you make me do something I don't want to do?

Many people have seen stage shows where the hypnotist makes people bark like a dog or pretend to be a rap star. This happens because the volunteers expect to be silly on stage. By getting on stage they're consciously agreeing to be silly. 

​Many of the volunteers are sent back to the audience because they don't choose to accept the hypnotic suggestions. This proves you always have a choice during hypnosis.

When you are hypnotized, your own sense of morality remains intact. A hypnotist can't get you to do anything you don't want to do. 

What's the difference between conscious and subconscious?

Your conscious mind can only take in about seven pieces of information at a time. 

When you drive, you may notice the car in front of breaking, or the song playing on the radio. 

But your subconscious (sometimes called unconscious) mind is taking in EVERYTHING around you. It notices the purple flowers on the side of the road, the sound of the car's air conditioner, the smell of the french fry you dropped earlier, etc. 

All of this information is stored away in case you need it later.

Hypnosis accesses the vast, amazing resources of your own subconscious mind. The part of you that understands how the problem formed and, more importantly, how to get rid of it quickly and permanently. 

Is Hypnosis Safe?

Hypnosis is not only safe, it's beneficial.

When you're hypnotized, your brain waves change in the same way as an experienced meditator.

The more often you practice meditation, hypnosis, and self-hypnosis, the more your brain changes in a positive way. In fact, science has proven that a regular meditation/self-hypnosis practice physically changes the brain in a powerful positive way.

Is hypnosis witchcraft?

If the idea of being hypnotized makes you nervous, you've come to the right place. 

There's an incredible amount of science to explain how hypnosis works and how our brains communicate with every cell in our body. 

Hypnosis can bring about physical, mental, and emotional healing.
